Electric ukulele

Ukuleles are fun but I like playing quietly, so I wanted an electric. Electric nylon-string instruments usually use piezo pickups, which sound weird and need batteries. So I thought: What if I had a magnetic pickup and instead of pointing it at the strings, I pointed it a piece of metal attached to a springboard the strings were riding on?

So that’s what this is.

The body is mahogany, which I probably shouldn’t use. I remember getting a great deal on a big board on eBay a long time ago.

The neck is two-piece maple bolt-on.

The fretboard and springboard are katalox.

The nut and bridge are aluminum. The bridge is a bit low, so it’s held up by nickels for now.
